Creepy 3D Printing: Get a Replica of Your Unborn Fetus
And now for something extremely creepy.
Japanese firm Fasotec is offering expectant parents “Shape of an Angel,” a miniature 3D print of their unborn fetus.
The fetus is first photographed using MRI and the resulting image data processed using special 3D software. A 3D printer is then used to construct the model, using clear resin for the mother’s body and white resin for the fetus. The position, posture and appearance of the baby appear exactly as it does in the mother’s uterus.
Parents looking to have their own “Shape of an Angel” taken will need to visit the Parkside Hiroo Ladies Clinic and should be prepared to pay the 100,000 yen (US $1,230) price is costs for a single 90x60x40mm model.

Objet Launches Versatile Objet30 Pro Desktop 3D Printer in Japan
We covered the announcement of the Objet30 Desktop 3D Printer back in May. It was touted as the most versatile desktop 3D printer and Objet released a catchy promo video to showcase its capabilities.
Today, Objet announced the launch of the Objet30 Pro in Japan.
The new desktop 3D printer offers 7 different materials, including, for the first time on a desktop system, clear transparent material and high temperature resistant material. Objet30 Pro is positioned as the ultimate rapid prototyping solution for designers and engineers, ranging from industries including consumer goods and consumer electronics to medical devices and design consultancies. Objet30 Pro will be showcased at DMS from Jun 20 – 22, 2012 at Tokyo Big Sight.
Objet30 Pro is the top-of-the-line addition to Objet’s existing desktop 3D printer line which starts at JPY1,980,000*, offering professional 28 micron print quality and wide ranging material versatility, opening the doors to limitless possibilities.

Objet Launches 3D Printing Joint Venture in Japan
Objet announced the establishment of Objet Japan KK, a new joint venture formed together with the 3D Printer division of Fasotec Co. Ltd, Objet’s longstanding distributor in the region.

The new entity is established in line with Objet’s global strategy to offer local support in key strategic markets, meeting the increasingly intricate requirements due to complexity of product portfolio and adapting to suit unique local conditions. Objet holds majority of ownership share of the new entity.
